February 2023 marked a significant milestone in my life – my very first trip outside of my home country. I embarked on a journey that felt like breaking through an invisible veil into a whole new world, a world filled with the thrill of adventure, tantalizing cuisine, romantic encounters, and a deep dive into history and culture. Join me as I recount the first part of my unforgettable experiences in the City of Light, the City of Love – Paris.

The Thrill of Adventure

As the plane touched down at Charles de Gaulle Airport on the morning of the 5th of February, I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. The anticipation of exploring a foreign land was palpable, and every step I took in Europe was like writing a new chapter in my adventure story. The sense of adventure filled the air, and I was ready to embrace it wholeheartedly.

Delightful Parisian Cuisine

One of the first things I discovered about Paris was its culinary magic. From buttery croissants to aromatic coffee, every breakfast felt like a treat. But it was the dinners that truly stole my heart. Escargot, Le Gigot D’Agneau, and the delectable macarons – Parisian cuisine was an enchanting journey in itself. Each meal was an opportunity to savor the flavors of a culture known for its culinary expertise.

Lovers, Romance, and a Dash of Flirting

Paris, often called the City of Love, lived up to its reputation. The streets seemed to be filled with lovers, strolling hand in hand along the Seine River, sharing passionate kisses beneath the Eiffel Tower, and whispering sweet nothings in charming cafes. The romantic atmosphere was infectious, and even I couldn't resist a bit of flirting with the city's charm.

Rich History and Cultural Protests

Beyond its romantic facade, Paris unveiled its rich history and a culture deeply rooted in protest. Walking through the Louvre, I stood in awe of the art and history that surrounded me. The architecture, from Notre-Dame to the Académie Française, told tales of centuries past. And then there were the protests, a reminder that Paris was a city unafraid to fight for its beliefs and values.

Exploring on Foot and Using the Subway

Paris encouraged exploration. I spent days walking the charming streets, discovering hidden gems, and stumbling upon quaint shops. The city's efficient subway system, with its iconic stations, made it easy to navigate and added to the sense of adventure. Every journey was an opportunity to see something new.

Regrets and Unfinished Adventures

As my time in Paris drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel a pang of regret – not for what I had experienced, but for what I hadn't. Paris and its surrounding regions had so much to offer, from the magnificence of the Champs-Élysées to the vigorous stance of protest surrounding Bastille. My only regret was not having enough time to explore every nook and cranny of this beautiful country.

In February, Paris became not just a destination but a cherished memory etched into my heart. My first trip abroad was a gateway to a world of adventure, culture, and romance. Paris had cast its spell on me, and I knew that I would return to unlock even more of its mysteries and experiences. As I boarded the train bound for London, I left my heart in La Ville-Lumière, The City of Light.
